  • Waiting

We’re playing the waiting game for Baby “Bug” Shoo. We had a Dr’s appointment today and we were shooting  hoping for going early. Well, Bug has his own agenda and he’s not ready just yet. Mrs. Shoo has been feeling contractions but they’ve been sporadic. A couple of times she has woken me up for…

  • Beer-can chicken

The rub. Salt, pepper, paprika, , lemon zest, rosemary, thyme. 5lb chicken covered in oil and rub. Chicken being propped up with a half can of Fat Tire. Beer mixture also included virgin oil, lemon juice,  and rosemary. Cook with indirect heat. Final product after 1 1/2 hours on the grill. The recipe I used was…

  • Veggie-beef soup

I made some of the best veggie-beef soup the other day. Don’t take my word for it – that’s from Mrs. Shoo. Here’s the recipe – 1lb stew beef 1-2 potatoes cut 3-5 carrots (pealed and cut) 1 can green beans (or replace with fresh green beans) 1 can of sweet corn (don’t drain to…

  • DIY House

The house has been undergoing some changes. The kitchen is finally painted. Thanks to my in-laws for their help on that. The baby room is almost finish. Again thanks to my in-laws. We intended to paint it green. It’s yellow. We dig it. Baby Shoo’s room is almost ready. Today I hung a print and…

  • The Bug.

I’m going to tease Mrs. Shoo to provide her own update on Baby Shoo by writing a post filled with multiple grammatical errors and inconsistencies. Which means I’ll write the same way I always do. (Note – This post is for the kid. When he Google’s himself on his iPhone 9, he’ll get a little insight…

  • Not Lassie

Clancy graduated from puppy school. He may not have been top of the class, but he made a lot of progress in 6 weeks. We can see big improvements when friends and family come over to visit. Not always the best behaved dog, he is improving.

  • Training

Clancy is on week 3 of puppy training class. He’s made good progress for a being a slightly over-reactive ADHD dog. We’ve learned some new techniques with loose leash walking and mastered “drop it.” Hopefully that will be a great one when Baby Shoo drops a pacifier. As a reward to his humans, he insisted…

  • Tour de Corn

Taken by Mike. Today I did the Tour de Corn with Mike – aka BGL (bluegilllover). A metric century, 62 miles. I’ve got some sweet tan lines. It was a tough day with the sun and nasty head wind on the way back. See BGL’s recap.

  • Des-is-a-good-time-Moines

The family, Mrs. Shoo, myself, and my parents, packed up the car and went up to Des Moines this weekend to visit my brother and his girlfriend. While we were there, we checked out the Des Moines Art Fair. Mrs. Shoo was super excited to grab some food. So excited, she made this face each…
